Hi, I'm Ames! I'm the owner and photographer of Ames Studios! I'm an Atlanta-area photographer with 12+ years of experience shooting portraiture and events.
I got my start and drew my inspiration living in New York City. During the day I was a newborn photographer, and at night I had the opportunity to photograph and participate in New York City nightlife. I also have experience in front of the camera as an actor, model, and stand-up comedian. Because of these experiences, I know what it takes for a headshot to catch the eye of a casting director. I feel that I have an innate ability to connect with my subjects and make them feel comfortable in front of my camera. With a little coaching and patience, even the most camera shy person can have a headshot that represents their unique personality.
Since moving to Atlanta, I’ve had the opportunity to further develop my skills and to receive specialized training in newborn photography. I’ve been honored to take the first images of newborns and their families from a range of cultural backgrounds and traditions. Knowing that I may well be the first person outside of the hospital other than family to hold a new baby is something I consider an honor and a privilege.
I am a lover of all humans! I celebrate and photograph all individuals and families- no matter what race, gender identity, sexuality, culture, religion, body or ability. As a member of the Queer community, I understand how much representation matters, not just for people who identify as LGBTQ+, but for all underrepresented populations and marginalized communities. I strive for my work to be inclusive and am always learning how to be a better ally.
I love every moment of what I do, and it’s my passion to tell your story through my lens.
